As you know from my Delores Umbridge blog post, I am a huge Harry Potter fan! So I was overjoyed when I found out that we were going to the one and only Harry Potter exhibit at the British library in London, England!
To celebrate the release of “A History of Magic” book by JK Rowling, the British library is hosting a Harry Potter history of magic exhibit! It’s amazing. There is a different theme for each room, (in order) Potions, Herbology, Charms, Astronomy, Divination, Defense against the Dark Arts, and Care of Magical Creature. JK Rowling generously lent her handwritten manuscripts and drawings. The library also drew from its extensive collection to show books and items such as the Ripley scroll, ancient manuscripts and books about magic. The exhibit also has lots of digital effects, and original designs of characters by Jim Kay, the illustrator for many of the books, and many other surprises!
In the potions room there is a digital experience that lets you make your own potion! there is a digital cauldron, and in front of it there are “Bowls of ingredients”. You press on the ingredients according to what the potion recipe tells you, and it makes you a potion! That is, if you do it correctly… That was lots of fun.
