Happy new year from Paris! Wishing everyone a wonderful 2018. We weren’t sure what we were going to do for New Year’s Eve. The Arc de Triomphe was going to have a light show and fireworks. However, the crowds along the Avenue des Champs-Élysées to watch it were expected to be huge. All in all, it didn’t sound like the perfect evening for us.
However, by chance a neighbor in our building mentioned that we could go up to the roof of our building and see the Eiffel tower from there. We only needed to get the key from the concierge. So that’s what we did.
We went up on the rooftop (well the balcony of the garret) and watched the fireworks and the Eiffel Tower sparkle. The Eiffel tower, which is always lit up at night, sparkles for 5 minutes every hour on the hour. Admittedly, I was on my hands and knees since I am scared of heights. That’s also why there aren’t many photos of the Eiffel tower or the fireworks!
Then we played with sparklers on our balcony and in the apartment. All in all, a good start to 2018.
